This week, we've been reworking our SetSeed cookie consent system in Design Mode 6*.

Cookie consent plugins have become a whole industry, with many services offering expensive subscriptions to add a consent widget to your site. It's super interesting because Google Analytics now has a special consent mode that can operate according to user preferences. The role of the consent banner has become more complex, as it needs to save settings in a way that is accessible to Google Analytics.

Today, we released Design Mode 6, featuring a great-looking consent banner. As always, the idea is that the style of the banner adapts to any theme setup, including the toggle for rounded corners.

The settings are deeply integrated with widgets that use consent-requiring cookies, such as Google Maps and YouTube. Pages containing these widgets will now defer the connection to third-party scripts until the user agrees to functional cookies. Once they do, the content will load without requiring a full page refresh.

We're very excited to include such a powerful feature with all SetSeed sites. It’s a great reminder of how many subscription services you can avoid by powering your website with SetSeed!
